Register now for MTSBA’s Annual Accommodating Individuals with Disabilities Training.  This training is a “must attend” for any trustee or school administrator as disability-related issues are an area of high risk for any public school. Here is the agenda for this year’s training.

January 9: 1:00-3:00 p.m. This session will focus on a district’s requirements to comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) starting with child find provisions, evaluations, individual education plans, the requirement of FAPE, discipline of IDEA students, and pitfalls to avoid that can put the District and students at risk.

January 16: 1:00-300 p.m.  The focus of this session will be on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the requirements for accommodating students and staff with disabilities, and how to manage your risk of disability-related claims.  New 504 regulations are due out any day.

January 23: 1:00-3:00 p.m. This session will be devoted to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its application to public schools, school employees, and making public accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
