Keynote Address: Prepare, Prevent, Protect – Keeping our Students and Schools Safe. Jason Russell the Founder and President of Secure Education Consultants will provide a guide to developing a successful safety and security program in our schools. This includes a discussion of the process necessary for a comprehensive safety and security program. The discussion will include a focus on the three phases of preparation which include pre-incident assessments, developing emergency plans, and how to properly train and equip staff to respond to critical incidents. Jason is a frequent Keynote Speaker on the topic of preparation and prevention of violence in schools and organizations of every size and mission.


Safety and Security Checklist: As a follow-up to the Keynote Address, the MTSBA legal staff will provide a safety and security checklist, including guidance related to threat assessments, school security, and critical partnerships.   


School Safety Policies and Procedures: MSTBA’s Director of Policy Services Kris Goss will discuss the policies and procedures that every school district should have in place to enhance the safety of school facilities and the premises and security of our students.

 

Enhancing Staff Performance: The MTSBA Legal Staff will provide innovations/strategies for consideration in elevating the performance of your staff. 


Cyber Liability Insurance Coverage: Shawn Bubb, MTSBA’s Director of Insurance Services will provide an overview of the cyber liability insurance coverage that every school district should have in place.

 

Thursday Night Football Social sponsored by MSGIA – Bad Betty’s BBQ dinner and refreshments provided. 


Protecting Student Information: This focus of this session will be on the new law, Montana Pupil Online Personal Information Protection Act, and the requirements of schools when contracting with third-party vendors to ensure student data is protected. 


Innovations that Promote Personalized Learning: Lance Melton, MTSBA’s Executive Director, will close the conference with a discussion of the flexibilities, efficiencies, and innovations that currently exist in Montana law to enhance personalized learning opportunities for each Montana child.
