2020 MTSBA HR SYMPOSIUM - VIDEO OPTIONS

The video links will be emailed to only those registered for this video event. The links can be watched at any time, anywhere. There are two video options - one person viewing or unlimited district viewing - you can make that choice during registration. This event is sponsored by MTSUIP. There is no fee for MTSUIP program members to attend. Non-members $125 per person.

MTSUIP’s Value-Added Service: As a member of MTSUIP, your district has access to a 4-hour in-district training for all of your key employees and those that have supervisory responsibilities at no charge to the District. We will provide you with an overview of this valuable program.

Lawful and Effective Hiring Practices: The focus of this session will be on the hiring process, including effective recruiting techniques, the screening process, interview do’s and don’ts, offers of employment contingent upon background checks and completing the hiring process.

The Employment Relationship, Part 1: This session will focus on the legal significance of placing employees on written contracts for a specific term v. good cause employees. We will also discuss how probationary periods should be handled for newly hired employees.

The Employment Relationship, Part 2: The focus of this session will be on employee performance and accountability. We will discuss tools for improving the performance of your employees, progressive discipline and due process procedures.

The New Overtime Rules under the Fair Labor Standards Act: This session will provide information about the New Overtime Rules that went into effect on January 1, 2020. During this session, we will also discuss how to effectively address issues relating to coaches and other extra-duty assignments.

MTSBA Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds for cancellations (5) days prior to the date of the training. Notification of cancellations must be received by Wendy Brenden by email at wbrenden@mtsba.org. However, if MTSBA cancels an in-person event due to extenuating or unforeseen circumstances those registered will be moved to the video-option for that event.  If you are registered and do not want the video-option, you must notify MTSBA within 5 days after the cancellation notice to prevent being charged for that event.
