4th Annual School Activities Seminar

August 13, 2020 


Educational and Activities leaders in Montana’s schools should join MTSBA and MHSA staff in an in-depth look at the emerging issues related to school athletics and activities. Staff that should attend include: activities directors, coaches, advisors, trustees, and administrators.

 

12:30 - 1:00 pm      Student Supervision and Safety – The focus of this session will be on how districts can ensure employees and volunteers develop and implement supervision protocols that ensure activity participants are safe during school events.

1:00 – 1:30 pm       Social Media for Teams and Coaches - The focus of this session will be how districts can responsibly establish social media presence for student activities and the responsibilities of district coaches and staff to honor district social media procedures.

1:30 - 2:30 pm        MHSA Rules Update – This session will be a review of Montana High School Association procedures provided by MHSA leaders. 

2:30 – 3:00pm        Break

3:00 - 4:00 pm        COVID-19 – The focus of this session will be how districts can implement their school reopening plans and safely and responsibly offer student activities in accordance with the established guidance and best practices.

4:00 – 4:45 pm       Coach Supervision, Contracts, and Evaluation – The focus of this session will be on the best practices for supervising coaches and making personnel decisions to ensure the rights of individuals and the interests of the district are protected. 

4:45 – 5:00 pm       Question and Answer Session


MTSBA is making in-person training safe at the MTSBA training headquarters!

  1. HVAC and other enhancements on level with hospital operating room environment in our headquarters.  
    1. A full exchange of air in the building every three minutes.  
    2. First floor served by a separate system, so no exchange of air between floors.
    3. UV Light systems for each floor.
    4. Electrostatic mist systems to disinfect training environments for each floor.
    5. Antimicrobial film on all high touch surfaces. 
    6. Touchless plumbing fixtures (including filtered water dispensers)
  2. Each common area in the building equipped with Hybrid-Ready Technology
    1. Big screen tv's
    2. Livestreaming broadcast cameras (zoom to speaker) throughout
